What it does

CV screening

Score every CV against the criteria for the job, and write the result back to Zoho Recruit.

What it does

Name a job, check the criteria SkillsDB drafts for it, and every CV is scored against those criteria with the sentence from the CV that earned each mark. You get a ranked list with a verdict on each person and the evidence behind it, not a number on its own.

Screening lives beside Assessments in your workspace. Anyone in the workspace can read a screening, start one and change a verdict; a verdict you change records your name.

  • CVs come from a Zoho Recruit job opening, or from files you upload.
  • Screening is free. It spends no credits.
  • Up to 300 CVs per organisation per day.
  • From a Zoho Recruit opening, the rating and the application status are written back to Recruit.

Start a screening

  1. Open Screening in your workspace and choose New screening.
  2. Choose From Zoho Recruit and pick the job opening, or choose Upload CVs and paste the job description with a title.
  3. Read the criteria SkillsDB drafted. Edit the wording, mark each one Must have or Nice to have, remove what does not matter and add what does. Twelve at most.
  4. For uploaded CVs, drop the files in. PDF, DOCX and TXT, up to one hundred files of ten megabytes each.
  5. Choose Start screening.

Read the results

The table is ranked by score. Open a row to see every criterion, what the CV said about it and the quote that says so, plus the profile read off the CV. A criterion the CV never mentions is marked as not stated rather than failed.

The verdict is decided by a rule, not by the model, so it means the same thing on every screening you run.

  • Any Must have criterion not met is a Reject.
  • Every Must have criterion met and a score of 70 or more is a Shortlist.
  • Anything else is a Consider.

Disagree with one? Choose Shortlist, Consider or Reject on the row, or select several and use the bar at the top. Your decision wins, it records your name, and for a Zoho Recruit candidate it is written back to Recruit.

What is written to Zoho Recruit

For a screening that came from a Zoho Recruit opening, each scored application gets two things written to it. The Rating field carries the score out of five. The Application Status is the value you mapped to that verdict.

  1. Open Settings in your organisation, choose Integrations, then Zoho Recruit.
  2. Find the CV screening write-back card. It lists your organisation’s own application statuses.
  3. Choose the status for Shortlist, for Consider and for Reject, then save.

Before you choose, the defaults are Qualified for Shortlist, In Review for Consider and Unqualified for Reject. If your Recruit organisation does not have one of those, the card says so and offers the values it does have.

Limits and what cannot be read

  • Three hundred CVs per organisation per day, counted in UTC. At the limit the screening pauses and the rest continue after midnight UTC; nothing is lost.
  • One hundred files per upload, ten megabytes each.
  • PDF, DOCX and TXT only. A legacy .doc file is not read.
  • A scanned PDF has no text to read. SkillsDB does not run OCR, so those CVs are marked unreadable rather than scored at zero.
  • A very long CV is read up to forty thousand characters.

Every CV that could not be read says why, on its row. A Zoho Recruit candidate with no resume attached says that too.

Reconnect your Zoho Recruit connection

CV screening asks Zoho for three permissions the earlier connection did not have: to read the files attached to a candidate, to read your application status list, and to update an application. A connection made before CV screening existed therefore shows Reconnect needed once.

  1. Open Settings in your organisation, choose Integrations, then Zoho Recruit.
  2. Choose Reconnect and accept the Zoho consent screen.
