MCP

Connect the agent you already use. It sends you here to log in and pick a workspace, then creates assessments, invites candidates and reads results there as you.

Before you start

You need a SkillsDB account and access to the workspace you want to use. Sign Up with a work email, or Log In to your existing account.

Your agent must support remote MCP over HTTP and browser-based OAuth authorization. Check your agent’s documentation for custom server support and any account requirements.

Connect your agent

  1. Open your agent’s MCP server or connection settings and add a remote HTTP server.
  2. Name the connection SkillsDB and paste the server URL below. Use OAuth authentication.
  3. Start the connection. In the SkillsDB window, log in, choose your workspace and review the requested access.
  4. Approve the connection, return to your agent and enable SkillsDB for the conversation if your agent requires it.

Connecting an agent to SkillsDB over MCPA sequence between three parties: your agent, SkillsDB and you in a browser. Your agent calls the MCP server with no token. SkillsDB answers 401 and says where its resource metadata lives. Your agent registers as a public client and asks to authorize, using PKCE. SkillsDB opens a window in your browser. You log in and choose a workspace, then approve the access the agent asks for. SkillsDB returns an authorization code, which the agent exchanges for an access token. From then on the agent works in that workspace with your access, until you revoke the connection.Your agentSkillsDBYou, in a browserCalls the MCP server with no token01401, and where its metadata lives02Registers, then asks to authorize with PKCE03Opens the SkillsDB window04You log in and choose a workspace05You approve the access it asks for06Authorization code, then an access token07Works in that workspace as you08
What the four steps above do: your agent asks, SkillsDB sends you to log in and choose a workspace, and the agent gets a token for that workspace.

The steps differ a little between agents. Pick yours for the exact screens.

  1. On claude.ai open Customize › Connectors, click the plus and choose Add custom connector. Name it SkillsDB, paste the URL and click Add.
  2. Click Connect. SkillsDB opens: log in and pick the workspace.
  3. In a chat click the plus at the lower left, choose Connectors and turn SkillsDB on. Ask for an assessment: Claude creates it, sends the invitations and reads the results as you.

Pro and Max plans, and Free with one connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds it first under Organization settings › Connectors › Add › Custom › Web; you then click Connect on it under Customize › Connectors.

Using a developer tool? Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and others take the same URL.

Check the connection

Ask your agent to list the assessments in your authorized workspace. This checks access without changing an assessment or sending an invitation.

If authorization does not open, check that your client supports OAuth for remote MCP servers. SkillsDB does not ask you to paste your login code into the agent’s configuration.

OAuth discovery details

Without an access token, the server returns HTTP 401 with a link to its resource metadata. The metadata identifies the authorization server. Registration accepts public clients, and authorization requires PKCE S256.

Manage connections

A connection is bound to one person, one organisation and one workspace. Your agent acts with your access in that workspace.

To review or revoke a connection, open your organisation in SkillsDB and go to Settings → Connections. You can revoke it at any time.
